The Castlebar Cagematch came into existence when a group of improvisers and stand-up comedians joined forces to make a monthly comedy night in June ’09.

The idea was simple: two teams of improvisers would go head-to-head with the audience determining the winner at the end of the night. It became a place where performers could cut loose while their friends, significant others, and fans of comedy could watch them perform without spending an arm and a leg. Mix in a few stand-up acts, some off-beat door prizes, and cheap drinks…well you get the idea. Thus the Cagematch was born, and it was good.
